You know, sightwalk.de, one of those many German Google Street View-type companies that have been taking pictures of your homes out there for years now? Oh, you never heard of them? And you couldn’t really care less nor do you feel threatened by them in the least? Well there we have it.
I’m surprised that this has gotten their Schlüpfer all in a twist; after all, this is the same country that maintains an Ordnungsamt to make sure that all citizens are compliant at all times in the face of a vast array of regulations governing acceptable behavior. Instead of fearing such technology, I would have thought that the Germans would have been the first to start using it to better spy on their neighbors in the hopes of dishing out tickets to feed more money into the bottomless, gaping maw that is the German government.
