Turks beat Germans

In what was sure to have been one turkey of a show, Turkey beat Germany last night on a SAT .1  TV duel game show thingy. Sorry I missed it (not).

Damn. No sooner does German President Christian Wulff assert that Islam “belongs” in Germany than the Turks get all uppity and whoop everybody’s butt.

“Was die Show, außer den Kandidaten, mit den beiden Nationen zu tun hatte, blieb weitgehend schleierhaft.”

  1. Next thing you know they’ll want a job that doesn’t involve driving a taxi or slinging dönner.

On a side note, German t.v. is beyond redemption. American t.v. is nothing to write a loving Haiku about, but if I see Daniela Katzenberger’s creepy face again, I’m going to scream.

Countdown has officially started; leaving Yeckistan within a month.

    • And a Barbazon sKul graduate too… or whatever equally sad analog there is of that in DE.

Don’t worry about Yecks. They have a role in this world. My favorite line from the move Munich is “bring back receipts!”

  2. Forgive me guys, but I LOVE German TV. Granted, I can’t watch it for very long, but it still amazes me after all these years. Yankee TV is what it’s supposed to be, extreme in both directions (good and bad). There a few things on German TV that are even actually good (very few), but it’s the Vielfalt of unbearable badness that really attracts me.

And I know what you mean about Daniela K. She was actually quite a character at first–long, long ago in reality TV time. Now that she’s got these star allures or whatever it’s over.

  3. A lot of t.v. here is a direct copy of British or American shows. I think perhaps the worst shows involve either German promis or scripted “reality” t.v. with poor acting. Maybe it is just a personal tick, but I also can’t watch anything that has been dubbed.

Unfortunately, that just about covers everything. Of course, my all time fav German t.v. show is the Vox Reportage about the Penny Markt on the Reeperbahn. This is absolutely brilliant. If you have nothing else to do tonight, find it on youtube. You won’t be sorry.
