Germany and China vs. the USA

Guess who wins (these days, I mean)? Duh. But it’s only a paritial victory, as Germany tries to spin it (they don’t want to gloat all too much publically).

After China and Germany teamed up and publicly slammed the Federal Reserve’s decision to buy $600 billion in Treasury bonds last week, now they’re shoulder to shoulder at the G20 successfully resisting this EVIL infusion of cash (= dollar devaluation) together too. They are doing this because, well, only China is allowed to devaluate its currency, I guess. And a weak dollar also means a strong euro which would hurt German exports and, well, this isn’t allowed to happen either.

Strange bedfellows aren’t they? Sure. What can/will President Obama do about it? Not much, it seems. But at least everybody over there still really, really likes him. And that’s the main thing.

It’s a mystery, isn’t it? How we got here, I mean? Well, no. I guess it isn’t. But why this happened as it did is all too, uh, deep for me. It’s kind of like this current German hole within a hole conundrum going on.

I mean, don’t like two holes make a non-hole?

  1. Man, I’ve been reading the forums over at Der Spiegel and Bild on this issue and the amount and virulence of Hermanns Hass for Amerika is stunning, but, for a long-time Hermannenbeobachter, not surprising.

    Well, you get the idea.

  3. Hey Jeffrey, that’s music in my ears man–when they finally come out of the woodwork/from behind cover and let it ALL hang out like that, I mean. It’s important. Americans really haven’t the slightest clue who their friends are.

  4. HO,

I too prefer it when Germans are just venting their usual shite. As I’ve said before, Americans generally don’t care one way or the other about Germans and Germany. Therefore, they have no idea of the long tradition of envy, hatred, sudden outbursts of superiority, revulsion and all the rest that Germans feel when they think about America and Americans. If Americans were aware of it, they’d have to admit that Hermann is One Sick Puppy.

Oh, and here’s a link I thought you’d like. An Indian minister gets all up in Hermanns Grill about their luxury autos. He said:

“Fahrzeuge wie Geländelimousinen oder BMWs in Ländern wie Indien zu nutzen, ist kriminell.”

Now that’s just funny. Germans love the idea of being “green” as long as someone else takes their toxic waste and they can continue to export gas-guzzling cars around the world. Gotta love Hermann.

    • My pregnant daughter in law just cooked the motor on her 2007 Passat. (She didn’t know that you were supposed to change the oil reguarly) Son is looking into a Lincoln Mark S crossover, which received some pretty good reviews in Consumer Reports. German hubris is Wolfsburgs loss or something like that.

  5. Crash the German economy, America! Satisfy their “nagging concern” about the trade imbalance by not buying Germany’s overpriced rubbish!

Inerestingly, even in our “societal collapse” of a recession, they would not HAVE a margin of profit were it not for US customers.
