Do as I say, not as I do

Believe you me, Europe, President Barack Obama knows what he’s talking about when he’s talking about debt.

And that is why he wants YOU to solve your eurozone debt crisis pronto. He is, after all, “deeply engaged” with European nations about solving the eurozone debt crisis, if less so about solving the American one, and is deeply convinced that European countries need to coordinate fiscal policies just like the American administration and Congress have not.

“Right now you have a single currency but you don’t have a single set of economic policies, and that’s created great difficulty,” the President said. “Like duh, we know all about that. Just look at us if you want to see what that kind of clueless leadership gets you.”

“Europa hat derzeit zwar eine geeinte Währung, aber es verfügt über keine gemeinsame Wirtschaftspolitik. Und das schafft große Probleme.”

    • 1) Bill Ciinton did not reduce the debt. He counted future earnings from Social Security as a credit.
      2) the data for Obama’s entry covers ONE YEAR, not 8 and 4 for some presidents named Bush.
      3) future committed spending doubles the debt inside of Obama’s presidency.
      4) Congress is the force that spends the money if the White House can’t talk them out of it. Hence the last two years of George Bussh’s second term which was cohabitation with the left being the beginning of the chart going vertical.

  1. I have absolutely no problem with blaming Bush or Reagan or even Eisenhower for any of this, I just don’t know how well it’s going to work as Obama’s re-election platform next year. What? It’s been three years already?

And this blame game stuff is great fun, too. That earthquake on the East Coast recently provided some great material:

“President Obama has just confirmed that the DC earthquake occurred on a rare and obscure fault-line, apparently known as ‘Bush’s Fault.”

  2. Bush: average unemployment 5%, Obama: 9%

Also Ian, thinking people know that the American left’s meddling with the American banking system was approximate the cause of the 2008 banking crises. The fact that things have not gotton better is the fault of the man in the Whitehouse.

    • The left wrecked our society, and still are. The motive behind the stimulus was to give cover and sufficient funding to the sort of primitive “government largesse for votes” that’s mornal in Canada and in corrupt American city halls.

There were no “shovel ready” projects, there was the absolute reverse of reducing the governments footprint, especially in things not economy related. There WAS a piling on of regulation that I can tell you – first hand – has terminated projects in our office. To appease detached, moronic, minute constituencies of the left, they have virtually shuttered whole industries and sent what’s left of them aborad.
For example: union construction labor has been openly emboldened to get ugly and violent, despite the fact that there is VIRTUALLY NO work for them to fight over.

Obama has accomplished nothing positive at all, which might be a blessing in disguise given his policy thrust of what his camp considers positive.

On the other hand, George Bush managed to ward off and nip in the bud TWO potential recession on his watch, each of which brought the economy back to normal within 4 months each time.

Obama’s presidency has been a disaster, but no-one will say it openly for social reasons.
