A star is born

Actually, it’ll end up being around forty or so later this year. Not terribly original, the idea, but still.

Who needs Hollywood, huh? Marlene Dietrich will be the very first US-Amerikanerin star ever to be immortalised on the streets of her home town on a brand new “Walk of Fame” which will be unveiled during the Berlin film festival this coming week.

Ten stars will be awarded a star each year during the festival festivities from here on out, all with a link to Hollywood, I mean German culture.

Like walk the talk already.

Anybody can run up the Empire State Building’s 1,576 stairs in roughly ten minutes and sixteen seconds.

But not many would be willing to do it twice. And like five times in a row?

Damn. That takes devotion. Or profound mental instability. Or maybe a little bit of both. But like they say, somebody’s got to do it – whoever they are.

Ich nix verstehen (I don’t get it). I thought their career had already been ended for them long, long ago.

But now their latest album will be their last, they promise. Germany’s most successful hard rock band has been at it for some 40 years now (at least) and they’re feeling it or something I guess and enough is enough already. What else ya gonna do, become a Rolling Stone?

There’s freedom and then there’s free, OK?

Who says that the MTV generation folks (and those generations that have followed them) don’t have a sense of history or very much sense of any other kind of sense at all? Clearly aware of the historical significance of the venue they have chosen to hold tonight’s big-time flashy and designer-drugged MTV Music Award extravaganza, organizers have erected a wall around the area to keep the unchosen many out.

Or is to keep the 10,000 lucky free ticket holders in? You know, like from, well, escaping to the West? Then maybe they do have more sense than I thought.
