Swimming World Cup 2023: Transgender swimmers to compete in new open category in Berlin – World Aquatics will debut a new open category for transgender athletes at this year’s Swimming World Cup event in Berlin.

Last year, the world governing body voted to stop transgender athletes from competing in women’s elite races.

The open category will feature 50m and 100m races across all strokes.

“Berlin is Germany’s hub for diversity and inclusion and therefore the perfect location for such a progressive project.”

‘More than annoying’: German minister cancels Pacific trip after plane mishap – German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock was forced Tuesday to call off a foreign policy trip to the Pacific region after two failed attempts to fly from the United Arab Emirates to Australia on a government aircraft.

The canceled visit is just the latest in a string of trips by German officials to be affected by problems with aging government planes. Some experts have ascribed the problems to the policy of buying used aircraft to economize.

You know. Natural stuff like that? Ah, nature is so Green (and sometimes red). And Germany is so Green it hurts.

Wolves, once confined to fairy tales, are back in Germany, stirring debate – “It took me a moment to realize what was coming out of the forest,” said the 37-year shepherdess, recounting one eventful day last summer in northwest Germany.

She was grazing her herd in a tree-lined field when she saw the wolf pounce.

“Aiiieee,” she screamed, recording with her phone as she launched herself toward the shaggy, slinking figure that had locked on to one of her ewes.

Breakdown on government jet – Baerbock stranded in Abu Dhabi. There is a mechanical problem with the plane carrying the foreign minister – shortly after a stopover it had to land again. The Foreign Office reports that the trip will be continued in the evening.

And if has dropped elsewhere in Germany it’s because Germans have stopped buying things they otherwise would have bought.

German inflation eases to 6.5% in July – German inflation eased in July, the federal statistics office said on Tuesday, confirming preliminary data.

German consumer prices, harmonised to compare with other European Union countries, increased by 6.5% on the year in July.

This follows a 6.8% increase in June.

Germany ‘speechless’ after earliest-ever Women’s World Cup exit – An opening 6-0 win over Morocco makes Germany’s earliest exit ever at the Women’s World Cup even harder to fathom for a No. 2-ranked team that won’t be advancing out of the group.

A 1-1 draw with South Korea in a dramatic end to the group stage Thursday left Germany in third place in Group H behind Colombia and Morocco. In the end, it was Morocco who inflicted the damage with an unexpected win over Colombia in a game being played at the same time but on the other side of the Australian continent.

It’s one of the heaviest metals there are. Even though it’s mud.

Wow. I heard a lot of these fans were wondering why their coffee tasted so muddy. Turns out it was freshly ground… A lot of them used to be addicted to mud wrestling, I’m told. But they’ve been clean now for years… Also heard about this big male cow that got stuck in mud near the stage. Terra-bull… I’ll be here all week, folks.

Germany’s Wacken metal festival halts admissions after persistent rain turns site to mud – The Wacken Open Air heavy metal festival in northern Germany is opening on Wednesday with a reduced audience after persistent rain turned the grounds to mud and forced organizers to order a halt to all new arrivals.

Organizers of the famed music festival in the village of Wacken, in a rural area northwest of Hamburg, had already told fans on Tuesday that no more cars and trucks could be admitted to the site because camping areas, the grounds and access roads were in poor condition because of heavy rain in recent days, and more was expected.

Russia’s Economy Growing More Than Germany’s

Which isn’t hard to do. Germany’s economy isn’t growing at all.

Let’s call it the German Green New Deal.

Germany expected to be only major economy not to grow this year – According to the latest figures from the International Monetary Fund, Germany’s GDP is forecast to drop 0.3% this year while other countries continue to grow.

The German economy is still failing to grow, figures showed on Friday, as the country that should be the industrial powerhouse for all of Europe struggles with high energy prices, rising borrowing costs and a lagging rebound from key trading partner China…

In Germany, the economy has been buffeted by several challenges. Above all, its long-term dependence on Russian natural gas to fuel industry backfired when the invasion of Ukraine led to the loss of most of Moscow’s supply and to higher costs for energy-intensive industries such as metals, glass, cars and fertilizer.
