That’s the “correct” way to view those who question placing restrictions on the unvaccinated in Germany.

They have to be Nazis, you see. Otherwise they might be rational human beings with reasonable arguments against these government restrictions. Then one would have to address these arguments. And then the government restrictions wouldn’t make any sense. And we can’t have the government looking like its restrictive policies don’t make any sense now, can we?

I knew they’d shoot themselves in the foot before the upcoming election but that they could shoot themselves three or four times was beyond my wildest dreams.

The original song, Kein Schöner Land in dieser Zeit (there is no country more beautiful than ours at this time) – still a popular campfire song and widely sung by scouts – celebrates the gathering of friends in nature one summer’s evening. They declare that with God’s grace they will continue to meet in this way in the future.

And here you thought Joe Biden was good at hightailing it – and of course he’s world class, let’s face it. Just watch how he leaves a press conference if you don’t believe me. But the Germans are abandoning Kabul and the tens of thousands of Afghans who helped them TODAY. They’re not even going to wait for Joe’s deadline of August 31. Sorry, I meant of course the Taliban’s deadline. They call the shots in Washington now.

Germany election: SPD overtakes Merkel’s CDU in polls for first time in 15 years.

Germany’s Social Democratic Party (SPD) has moved ahead of Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in the polls for the first time in fifteen years.

The SPD was polling at 23% while the CDU was one point behind at 22%, according to figures released on Tuesday by Forsa.

Germany’s deadly floods were up to 9 times more likely because of climate change, study estimates.

So that means if we can just get the climate to stop changing then the likeliehood of deadly German floods will be nine times less likely than it is at the moment? Well, what the hell are we waiting for? Make it stop changing already. Somebody.

Record rainfall that triggered deadly floods in Western Europe in July was made between 1.2 and 9 times more likely by human-caused climate change, according to a new study.

The study, conducted by 39 scientists and researchers with the World Weather Attribution (WWA) project, also found that the most extreme rain was a once-in-400-year event, and that climate change increased the intensity of daily extreme rainfall by 3% to 19%.

Poor Mini-Me-Merkel-Man Armin Laschet. Nobody wants him as the post-Merkel CDU chancellor candidate. Not even Mother Merkel herself, looks like to me. Begeisterung sieht anders aus – enthusiasm looks different.

Chancellor Angela Merkel’s would-be successor pledged Saturday to “fight with everything that I can” for victory in Germany’s Sept. 26 election, as the long-time leader’s center-right bloc kicked off its official campaign amid a worrying sag in its poll ratings.

Merkel joined Armin Laschet, a state governor and leader of her Christian Democratic Union party, to appeal to voters to extend the party’s long run in the chancellery. Laschet is running to succeed Merkel after her 16 years in office.

The “West” may be clinically dead, but it’s reassuring to know that the reflex of our collective, knee-jerk obsession with guilt still works.

Instead of a Covid vaccination?

Well, at least they won’t be catching Saline, right? Will they need a second shot?

A nurse is being investigated by police in Germany for allegedly replacing Covid-19 vaccines with saline solution.

The nurse replaced the vaccines between March and April this year at Roffhausen immunization center in Friesland, northwest Germany, the Friesland district administrator, Sven Ambrosy, said on Facebook Tuesday.

“Today I had the sad duty to inform around 8,600 people who may have been affected that it cannot be ruled out they may have received a saline solution instead of their vaccination at their vaccination appointment. For peace of mind we would recommend people get an additional vaccination,” Ambrosy said.

But It’s Not A Mandatory Vaccination

Nor is it a mandatory vaccination durch die Hintertür (through the back door).

It’s merely a… I mean, it’s just that… “Vaccinated people in Germany may get more rights.” They may get more rights that they actually already have? How cool is that?! Where can I sign up?

Soon, a trip to the movies, the theater or a restaurant may require proof of vaccination. At least that’s what German Health Minister Jens Spahn wants, but not everyone agrees.

“Those who want to exercise their right to be unreasonable have to take into account that others will want to be protected from them.”
