German CO2 Doesn’t Stink

Well, not usually.

Distracted while showing the rest of the world how to best go green, sneaky German greenhouse emissions grew by the largest leap since 1990.

Germany is forecast to slip back below the threshold it had set for cutting greenhouse gases by 2020, amid a post-pandemic recovery and unfavorable conditions for renewable energy, according to a report by an environmental think tank Sunday.

Berlin-based Agora Energiewende examined data from the first half of 2021 to forecast that total emissions in Germany this year will be equivalent to somewhere between 760 million to 812 million tons of CO2.

This would put Germany’s emissions about 35-39% below 1990 levels. The German government had pledged to achieve cuts of 40% by 2020 — a target it claimed to have reached last year, in large part due to the pandemic-related economic downturn.

This year’s rebound of about 47 million tons of carbon dioxide in 2021 would be the biggest increase since 1990, Agora Energiewende said.

Local Hires?

Now hiring. Not.

It’s more like firing. In more ways than one.

What To Do With Local Hires?

With the Taliban rapidly taking control in Afghanistan, Berlin doesn’t have much time left to protect local hires from potential harm. Meanwhile, a potential new wave of refugees from the country threatens to become a dominant issue in the general election campaign.

“The call was unfortunately made by accident. You are actually not eligible for asylum.”

A Saline Solution?

Instead of a Covid vaccination?

Well, at least they won’t be catching Saline, right? Will they need a second shot?

A nurse is being investigated by police in Germany for allegedly replacing Covid-19 vaccines with saline solution.

The nurse replaced the vaccines between March and April this year at Roffhausen immunization center in Friesland, northwest Germany, the Friesland district administrator, Sven Ambrosy, said on Facebook Tuesday.

“Today I had the sad duty to inform around 8,600 people who may have been affected that it cannot be ruled out they may have received a saline solution instead of their vaccination at their vaccination appointment. For peace of mind we would recommend people get an additional vaccination,” Ambrosy said.

No More Free Testing?

You mean no more of the free testing taxpayers were already paying “through the nose” for?

Now, instead of having to pay for it, they have to pay for it. What a rotten deal.

Germany to Stop Free COVID-19 Tests – Germany wants to end free coronavirus tests in October, the RND group of newspapers reported on Monday, citing a draft proposal to be discussed by Chancellor Angela Merkel and leaders of the country’s 16 states.

The government made the tests free for all in March to make a gradual return to normal life possible after a lockdown to break a third wave of COVID-19.

But It’s Not A Mandatory Vaccination

Nor is it a mandatory vaccination durch die Hintertür (through the back door).

It’s merely a… I mean, it’s just that… “Vaccinated people in Germany may get more rights.” They may get more rights that they actually already have? How cool is that?! Where can I sign up?

Soon, a trip to the movies, the theater or a restaurant may require proof of vaccination. At least that’s what German Health Minister Jens Spahn wants, but not everyone agrees.

“Those who want to exercise their right to be unreasonable have to take into account that others will want to be protected from them.”

Even Horses Are Snowflakes These Days

After complaining to authorities about the oppressive environment and how demanding participating in the Olympics has become, I assume, a German horse has had his coach suspended for horse-o-phobic behavior.

A German coach at the Tokyo Olympics was suspended Saturday after being filmed hitting an uncooperative horse during the women’s modern pentathlon competition.

TV footage showed Kim Raisner leaning over a fence to strike the horse Saint Boy, which refused to jump the fences in the show jumping round on Friday. That cost German athlete Annika Schleu a chance of winning the gold medal.

German Of The Day: Impfpflicht

That means mandatory vaccination.

And no, of course there will be no mandatory vaccinations here in Germany, German politicians keep reassuring their subjects. But the lives of those who do not get a coronavirus vaccine will soon be severely restricted. Ain’t no big deal. You’re all having rotten ristricted lives right now already anyway.

Unjabbed Germans face restrictions to avert new Covid wave – Health minister wants restaurants, hairdressers, stadiums and hotels to be off limits to the unvaccinated.

Restaurants, hotels, hairdressers, sport facilities and large gatherings, both outside and in, are among those he has listed as places that would be out of bounds to those who did not fulfil the criteria.

But Who Is Going To Tow It Back?

It won’t be China. German warships usually go kaputt, you know. And the German Navy doesn’t really, well, exist.

Although if the Germans ask the Chinese really nicely…

German warship ‘Bayern’ heads to the Indo-Pacific – The German navy’s frigate “Bayern” set sail on Monday for the Indo-Pacific region, fully loaded with Berlin’s aspirations to play a small role in the geopolitical standoff between China and the West.

The first such deployment in almost 20 years is meant to uphold freedom of navigation in international waters, protect “open societies” and express support for regional partners sharing Germany’s values, Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer was quoted as saying in a statement.

German Of The Day: Verbot

That means ban.

You know, as in Berlin court bans anti-lockdown protests?

These Querdenker (people who think outside the box) keep thinking outside the box so it’s time to box them up and move them out.

Judges in the German capital have moved to ban a number of weekend demonstrations amid fears they will lead to a rise in coronavirus infections. Police expect protesters to travel to Berlin nonetheless…

The upper court said the Querdenker movement was characterized throughout Germany “by the fact that the participants used them to violate legal norms created to contain the risk of infection in a way that attracted public attention, in particular by disregarding the social distance requirement and the mask requirement.”

German Of The Day: Kameltreiber

That means camel herder.

It’s a verboten word, of course. That’s why anyone using it must be publically tried and found guilty in the media courtroom. More fake moral outrage, in other words. Yawn.

A German Cycling Official Apologizes After Shouting A Racial Slur During A Race – TV cameras picked up a German cycling official yelling a racial slur during the men’s time trial Wednesday at the Tokyo Olympics, prompting an apology from the official and a reaction from at least two of the cyclists involved…

At the time, Arndt was trying to catch rival riders from Algeria and Eritrea. Looking on, Moster shouted, “Get the camel drivers” several times, according to Deutsche Welle.
