German Of The Day: Impfzentren

That means vaccine centers.

And Germany needs to reopen them again. You have to ask yourself why they closed them down in the first place. It looks like with the need for COVID-19 booster shot after booster shot after booster shot they will be needing them for many, many years to come.

Germany’s outgoing health minister is calling on state governments to reactivate some specialized COVID-19 vaccination centers that were closed in the late summer to help administer booster shots as new coronavirus infections increase rapidly.

German Of The Day: Rasanter Anstieg

That means rapid rise. But willkürlich would have been a good German of the day, too. That means arbitrary.

Rapid rise as in: OMG! The Corona incidence rate in Germany is now at 130,2 and rising!

Arbitrary as in

COVID: Germany set to end national state of emergency – Despite a rise in infections, the parties set to form a new government want to end the national state of emergency. But Germany should not yet expect a “freedom day.”

This just goes to show you how arbitrarily the panic buttons are pressed during our brave new COVID era. Just a few months ago, the Germans were losing sleep at night because the COVID incidence rate was threatening to rise over 30. Keep enjoying the show!

Experts Frustrated?

Well, we certainly don’t want that, do we?

It’s a terrible thing for experts when “misunderstandings” still persist. It makes them look bad. And that would only cause them more frustration.

Experts frustrated as German footballer says he has not had Covid jab – Immunologists say Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich is mistaken and vaccine misunderstandings persist.

I have concerns about the lack of long-term studies.”

German Of The Day: Mund-Nasen-Schutz

That means mouth and nose protection. You know, a face mask?

They keep you safe. Unless you’re a gas station employee asking a customer to put one on. Then they can be dangerous, deadly even. Remember the days when gas station employees were endangered by people who were already wearing the face masks when they came in?

Germany: Gas station employee killed over a face mask – A 20-year-old clerk was shot after asking a customer to wear a face mask in Germany. The suspected shooter said he was stressed out by coronavirus measures.

Why Does “Going According To Plan” Sound So Sinister Here?

Or is it just me?

I know it isn’t just me. Asking for a friend.

“Things Are Looking Good and Going According to Plan” – In an interview, BioNTech founders Ugur Sahin and Özlem Türeci explain why booster shots are needed to combat the Delta variant of the coronavirus, and they say that a vaccine for five- to 11-year-old children is on its way…

The number of vaccine doses is no longer a limiting factor. There will be enough vaccine for every person in the world by 2022 at the latest.

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

What do Germans fear the most?

An annual study has again asked people what they fear the most. After almost two years of COVID pandemic, somewhat surprisingly, health issues do not top the list.

For years, there was no new public debt in Germany. This gave citizens the reassuring feeling of living in a fiscally sound country — until the coronavirus pandemic came rolling over our world like a tsunami.

“People like to push thoughts of illness away, we all know that. But when it comes to money, then, also in my experience, the fears are always very large.”

But Look On The Bright Side

Germans may feel the least free of all Europeans when it comes to the pandemic…

But to compensate for this they pay the highest taxes, have the highest energy and water costs, earn some of the lowest wages, get the lowest retirement pay, fight through the worst bureaucracy, have the most difficult time acquiring property of all Europeans and there’s more of course but I’ll stop here because I’m running out of breath.

Germans ‘feel least free’ of all Europeans during pandemic – Nowhere in Europe have people felt more inhibited by 18 months of Covid-19 restrictions than in Germany, a new study by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) finds.

Just one in ten Germans currently ‘feel free’ in their everyday life, while almost half say that they ‘don’t feel free’, the study published on Wednesday found.

The results put Germany at the bottom of a table of Europeans in 12 EU member states who were asked about their level of freedom now compared to since the pre-pandemic days.

Marchers = Nazis

That’s the “correct” way to view those who question placing restrictions on the unvaccinated in Germany.

They have to be Nazis, you see. Otherwise they might be rational human beings with reasonable arguments against these government restrictions. Then one would have to address these arguments. And then the government restrictions wouldn’t make any sense. And we can’t have the government looking like its restrictive policies don’t make any sense now, can we?

Germany: Thousands march in Berlin against COVID rules – Marchers rallied through the streets of the German capital, with thousands of police officers on standby in case of violence. A court had allowed only one rally to go ahead.

German Of The Day: Coronamüde

That means corona-tired.

And who isn’t coronamüde these days?

The never-ending game of Regulation Roulette has resulted in an array of responses across Berlin and its many different art scenes. The overall effect is a pervasive sense of coronamüde (literally “corona-tired”) but, beyond that—as gallerist Tanja Wagner put it—“everyone has a completely different take on the situation.”

A Saline Solution?

Instead of a Covid vaccination?

Well, at least they won’t be catching Saline, right? Will they need a second shot?

A nurse is being investigated by police in Germany for allegedly replacing Covid-19 vaccines with saline solution.

The nurse replaced the vaccines between March and April this year at Roffhausen immunization center in Friesland, northwest Germany, the Friesland district administrator, Sven Ambrosy, said on Facebook Tuesday.

“Today I had the sad duty to inform around 8,600 people who may have been affected that it cannot be ruled out they may have received a saline solution instead of their vaccination at their vaccination appointment. For peace of mind we would recommend people get an additional vaccination,” Ambrosy said.
