Did Germans flock to the stores and through the crowds yesterday to get their Christmas shopping done before the big Christmas lockdown?

And to get their COVID19 infection while they were at it? Of course they did. They had to. But they know that their government is only locking them down for their own good so they are thankful that they were allowed to Christmas shop for as long as they did.

Germans flocked to the shops to get their Christmas shopping done. Now it’s forced them into lockdown for the holiday.

“The people are fed up with the situation.”

Germany is now the biggest breaker of EU rules, according to new statistics on enforcement actions started by Brussels against member states.

The figures come despite the country’s leading role in the European project and claims from some quarters that Angela Merkel’s government dominates proceedings in the bloc.

Numbers provided to German newspaper Handelsblatt by the country’s economics ministry show the country’s government is subject to 74 infringement proceedings by the European Commission for failing to implement EU regulations properly in German law.

German Green party politician Markus Tressel told the newspaper Germany was now “bottom of the class” for following EU rules and far from the “model pupil” it was sometimes portrayed as.

A spokesman for Angela Merkel’s government has announced that he expects coronavirus vaccinations to begin in Germany “in the very first days” of the new year.

And Germans being Germans and incredibly orderly and all that the same spokesman has indicated that government officials, himself included, will graciously wait their turn and let everyone else get their vaccinations first.

Merkel’s chief of staff, Helge Braun, told the Bild newspaper late Sunday that he will tell medical authorities he’s prepared to help. He said “that won’t work at every hour of the day or night as chief of staff, but at the weekend I’m prepared to join in.” He said that he and Merkel will get vaccinated “when it’s our turn.”

Germany was held up as an example of how to do the pandemic. Now it’s struggling.

Coronavirus: German ICUs see 40% more patients than in April – Intensive care units (ICU) at some German hospitals are reaching full capacity with seriously ill COVID-19 patients, the country’s hospital federation said. A high percentage of nurses are off sick or in quarantine.

They have yet to identify the many warning signs for severe COVID psychosis all around them. For instance, the severe effects this psychosis is having on our civil liberties; the indisputably measurable drop in the freedom of expression, the right to privacy, free movement and free association, etc.

Normally extremely squeamish about the concept of trade-offs when it comes to ideas like “total tolerance” “multiculturalism” and “diversity,” for example (they always have downright compulsury “solutions” for these instead), the governments funding these scientists – and restricting our freedom – have absolutely no problem imposing trade-offs on our civil liberties when it comes to COVID-19. That must be because they are going to trade them right back to us again. Real soon, right?

Germany Passes 1 Million Coronavirus Cases As Merkel Warns Of ‘A Tough Winter’ – Germany officially passed 1 million confirmed cases of the coronavirus on Friday as the country’s daily totals remain high through the first month of what the government calls “lockdown light.” Since the beginning of November, schools and most shops have remained open, but bars, gyms and other indoor leisure centers have closed, with restaurants only open for takeaway orders.

On Wednesday, Chancellor Angela Merkel announced the country will have to live with these restrictions through at least Dec. 20.

That’s what’s calling Friedrich Merz “Germany’s Donald Trump” certainly is. A “hardline conservative” in Germany is a liberal light in US-Amerika.

But having said that, when I read from our friends over at Politico about “A combative old white man who speaks of gays and pedophiles in the same breath, dismisses gender debates as a waste of time and who can’t stand Angela Merkel could hardly be more out of step with the zeitgeist,” I ask myself, what’s not to like about this guy?
