Zelenskiy’s Planned Visit To Berlin On May 13 Never Happened

The plan. Much less the announcement. Nothing was planned and we know of no visit. The key word here being no, not know. In fact, we know nothing. Nothing!

German police investigating leak of Zelenskyy’s Berlin itinerary – The Berlin police press office reported the leak on May 3, as news emerged that unnamed sources withing the police force allegedly confirmed the visit. Police officials stated that they did not provide official information that would jeopardize the security of Zelenskyy’s visit, and only confirmed that such a visit would someday take place.

“I find it unbearable that – if you believe the article in the newspaper – a single employee is damaging the reputation of the Berlin police in such a shameful way, both nationally and internationally.”

May demonstration in Berlin: police report riots. “Bottles and pyros” thrown – At least one stone was thrown at police during a demonstration in Berlin on the eve of May 1 with around 3,300 participants. One woman was arrested.

On the night of May 1, demonstrators attacked police officers in Berlin-Kreuzberg. During a left-wing queer-feminist demonstration on Sunday evening, participants threw bottles and firecrackers at the police.

Sudan To Berlin?

Talk about culture shock. Those poor evacuees are really going to miss Sudan.

German evacuation planes land in Berlin – Germany’s Bundeswehr military said on Monday that it had successfully flown 313 people out of Sudan, with a fourth plane carrying more evacuated citizens taking off later on Monday.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said over 400 should be evacuated after the final plane lands.

German climate protesters glue themselves to Berlin streets – Last Generation climate protesters have caused widespread traffic disruption in the German capital. “We will no longer accept that the government has no plan to stop the destruction of our livelihoods,” the group said.

I miss the Cold War too. Good times. MAD times (Mutually Assured Destruction).

How I do wish we could turn back the clock.

After the wall came down – with the more benign cousin of today’s callous capitalism the victor – we took a summer trip to Berlin in the ever-dependable family BMW (it looked like an East German Trabbi compared to modern cars today). I remember sitting in the back listening to Madonna’s latest album on my Walkman as the bright energetic Berlin streets slipped by the car window. Besides the Brandenburg Gate, we bought giant furry Russian winter hats and military cap badges and chunks of the wall being sold on lines of tables.

Happy days. The global standoff was over, with us coming out on top. How did we let that slip through our fingers?

Tesla is reportedly looking to add a fourth production shift at Giga Berlin in Germany to double production in hopes of meeting a manufacturing rate of 500,000 vehicles annually.

Tesla has already ramped up its third shift, which helped the automaker obtain a weekly production volume of 5,000 vehicles per week, it confirmed in late March.

Managing Director Jochem Freyer from the employment agency in Frankfurt confirmed to rbb24 that Tesla has filled all of its openings for the third shift, and now the company is considering a fourth shift, which could help the company double its production output from 5,000 vehicles per week to 10,000.

You know, like the one Berliners are voting on today; to make Berlin “climate-neutral” by 2030? I think they should hold one on free beer and ponies for everybody too. That’s more realistic.

Berlin votes on climate neutrality by 2030 – Berliners will go to the polls yet again on Sunday to vote in a referendum to make the German capital climate neutral 15 years earlier than planned. Critics deride the proposal as too costly and completely unrealistic.

That would be undemocratic. Here, in Berlin, the loser parties get back together to form the next coalition government the voters just rejected.
