If you are a German who dares to openly question or even criticize your government’s draconian COVID restrictions, you are “teaming up with the far-right” at best and a neo-Nazi even better.

COVID protests escalate in Germany – In Germany, protesters against COVID restrictions are teaming up with the far-right. The new government now plans to crack down on the messenger service they use: Telegram.

“Those who take to the streets, to a large extent, are a mixture of the far-right extremist scene, the far-right Reichsbürger scene, conspiracy theorists, hooligans, and an alternative esoteric scene.”

Please don’t let Green Germans in on this climate crisis fun fact. It would only hurt their feelings.

Green utopians bravely ignore two fundamental problems with renewables: They are unreliable, thus requiring 100% backup, and energy-dilute, not energy-dense (like nuclear power), requiring huge tracts of land, transmission lines, mining, etc. (Apocalypse Never, Michael Shellenberger).

Wildlife concerns blunt Germany’s green power efforts – Germany is expanding its power grid to aid the transition to renewable energies, but local residents in some areas are holding up the process over concerns about wildlife.

“The problem is that wind energy is produced largely in the north, while many needs, especially industrial ones, are in the south. This electricity must therefore be transported using new networks,” Dierk Bauknecht, an expert at the Oeko-Institut research centre, told AFP.

To meet these needs, the German government has launched more than one hundred new power line projects over the past few years spanning 12,000 kilometres, according to official figures from the economy ministry.

Why does everyone insist on giving state news channels euphemisms like “public broadcaster?”

Another one the Germans like is “öffentlich-rechtlich,” meaning something like “run by public authorities.” Why do they confuse things? A taxpayer-funded channel is a state-run channel that broadcasts the party line. Like down here:

Deutsche Welle (DW) — a taxpayer-funded international channel broadcasting in more than 30 languages — had already experienced sustained criticism for its links with Roya TV, a Jordanian station whose antisemitic social media posts were the subject of an investigative piece on Vice’s German language site. Those revelations quickly followed the news that several journalists and editors working for DW’s Arabic service had tracks records of making virulently antisemitic remarks — a scandal that is now the subject of an external investigation.

German state TV in action: An Islamist fires a machine gun in Israel, killing one Israeli and injuring others. Israeli security forces kill the attacker.

What does German state news channel ZDF do? They broadcast: “Israel: Palestinian Shot.”

This is nothing new in “journalism,” of course, whether in Germany or anywhere else. But here you can’t “switch the dail.” Germans are taxed to support these state channels, whether they support them or not.

The German “2G” rule means allowing only those vaccinated or recovered from COVID-19 to enter indoor areas.

This means that Germany has become a place where the vaccinated must be protected from the unvaccinated. It all makes sense these days somehow. And that’s the scary part.

Germany’s capital Berlin will from Monday tighten the screws on unvaccinated people by denying them access to indoor dining, bars, gyms and hairdressers in an effort to contain a coronavirus resurgence.

Under new rules in the city-state, only fully vaccinated people and those who can show proof of recovery from Covid-19 can enter leisure facilities and a list of other selected venues — a system known as “2G” in Germany.

German Academic Freedom Is Now Decided in Beijing – German universities are bowing to China on censorship.

The two German journalists Stefan Aust and Adrian Geiges were disinvited from giving public talks at the German Confucius Institute about their new biography of China’s president, Xi Jinping: The Most Powerful Man in the World. The disinvitation came at the behest of the Chinese consul general in Düsseldorf. Aust told the German newspaper Die Welt that an institute staffer informed the journalists that “you cannot talk about Xi Jinping as a normal person, he is supposed to be untouchable and unmentionable now.”

CNN actually got that right for once. If they wouldn’t have got him fired with this damning press report, they would have got him with another one.

German media group fires BILD editor after damning press reports – The German media group Axel Springer said on Monday that it has fired the editor-in-chief of the BILD newspaper, Julian Reichelt, for failing to “to maintain a clear boundary between private and professional matters” and being “untruthful to the Executive Board.”

That this guy could have survived as long as he did is the real story. His paper printed damning, un-woke, politically incorrect reports all the time. It was real journalism, in other words. He had to be cancelled at all costs, you see. That it took so long should gives one hope for the future.
