German Politicians Bewildered

Like, what are we supposed to do? Take the concerns of our fellow citizens seriously (see Migrant Madness, unaffordable energy, the housing crisis, inflation, Ukraine, etc.)?

That’s out of the question.

Germany bewildered about how to halt the rise of the AfD – The far right’s rise is sending shock waves through the country’s political landscape.

In Germany, news regarding the seemingly unstoppable rise of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) appears on an almost weekly basis. But nowadays this isn’t just true of the notoriously AfD-friendly states in east Germany, it’s also spreading further west.

In Saxony, Thuringia and Brandenburg, the AfD is currently running well above 30 percent. The party is gaining ground in the former West German states of Hesse and Bavaria as well, where it is expected to land at around 15 percent in this weekend’s elections.

German of the day: “Invasion Vibes”

OK, it’s English. But still.

Elon Musk Attacks Germany Over Its Migrant Rescues, Cites ‘Invasion Vibes’ – Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to X to scrutinize a German humanitarian group conducting a rescue operation in the Mediterranean Sea, suggesting such operations and their transport of rescued immigrants to Italy are a violation of the country’s sovereignty…

Musk said he doubted the majority of the German public supported the operations, claiming they are “surely” violations of Italy’s sovereignty and saying they had “invasion vibes.”

My Hero

I’m sure he’ll let me down sooner or later (like all heroes eventually do) but for now, Elon is on a roll. Run with it!

Elon Musk gets into German debate over migration.

Billionaire Elon Musk waded into German politics on Friday, sharing the post of another account on his social media platform X that attacked the government’s handling of illegal migration and backed the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD).

The post shared by Musk came from an account identified as Radio Genoa. It criticized the German state for funding charities rescuing migrants in the Mediterranean and included videos of rescue missions. “Let’s hope the AfD wins the elections to stop this European suicide”, it read.

Critics of the charities accuse them of encouraging people to make the dangerous crossing — something they deny.

“Let’s hope the AfD wins the elections to stop this European suicide.”

It’s not like I want to tell you that I told you so…

But actually, I do.

I told you so.

Germany says it will keep taking in migrants from Italy after all – Germany has decided to keep taking in migrants and refugees arriving in Italy, the interior minister said late on Friday, two days after it announced the suspension of a voluntary agreement with Rome to receive new arrivals.

Under an European Union solidarity scheme, Germany had pledged to help member states such as Italy that are particularly overwhelmed by migrants by taking in 3,500 people, but it announced the suspension of the accord on Wednesday.

Germans Hate America

Why should they be the only ones who don’t?

But…

German companies love America. According to the German-American Chamber of Commerce, around 5,600 of them have invested in the US market. As of September 2022, that’s an investment volume of almost $650 billion (€605 billion). And it’s not only big firms like Siemens, Volkswagen, or Linde that are currently looking to strengthen their commitment to the United States — in some instances, even building entire new production facilities.

German Of The Day: Hybrid Identities

That means… The hell if I know.

Other than maybe meaning German citizenship will soon be selling like heiße Kuchen (hotcakes). Of course, it could also mean “lets let our own German identity roll over and die.”

Hybrid identities’: why Germany is updating its citizenship rules – The draft law would allow people to apply for citizenship after just five years of residence in Germany, rather than eight years currently. It also states that: “Those who have made a particular effort to integrate — such as becoming proficient in German, doing voluntary work or performing well in school — can apply after three years.”

“The idea that you have only one homeland is completely outdated.”

Germany’s Population Is Booming

It’s at an “all-time high.” Due to illegal immigration (AKA “migration”).

Doctors, engineers and other desperately needed Fachkräfte (specialists, professionals) keep pouring in over the non-border by the tens of thousands (a mid-size German city every year). Thumbs up, Germany.

German population hits all-time high – According to official statistics, the number of people living in the EU’s largest nation grew due to record migration.

It Will Be A Long Debate

Generally, for as long as there is nothing left to debate about.

Migrants

When “Germany” debates something, especially “terminology,” they will do so until the cows come home. And then leave home again. And then come back home again. And so forth.

For 15 years now, the term used by German statisticians and politicians alike to denote foreigners and their descendants has been “people with a migration background.”

That was the label given to people who weren’t born into German citizenship. And to people whose mothers or fathers were not born German citizens. Today, that applies to a quarter of the population.

After two years of discussing how Germany could better acknowledge its status as a society of immigration, a SPECIALIST commission of 24 politicians and academics appointed by the government has submitted its report to Chancellor Angela Merkel. One of its recommendations is to stop using the terms “migration background” or “immigrant background.”

People should use the term “immigrants and their descendants,” commission chair Derya Caglar said. “In my case, this would mean that I am no longer the migrant, but rather the daughter or descendant of migrants.”

Achieved?

Germany has took on more than it can handle. And is continuing to do so (400+ per day). That’s what it has achieved.

Germany

Germany: Five years after the refugee crisis, what’s been achieved? – Five years ago, as hundreds of thousands of refugees came to Germany, Chancellor Angela Merkel maintained: “We can do it.” How has Germany — and those who sought asylum — managed since then?

…The initial “welcome culture” that Merkel advocated dissipated on New Year’s Eve 2015/16, when women were assaulted by migrants in Cologne’s main railway station.

And then came the Berlin terror attack, foiled terror attacks, all the other crime, disappointment and daily conflicts the German media does its best to ignore. And most Germans just keep on pretending that none of this is really happening. Why? Because Germany is a Moral Superpower? Are Germans that good at denial (see WWII and Communist East Germany)? Maybe it isn’t really happening. If you don’t see it in the news and no one is allowed to express an uncomfortable opinion or inconvenient truth about it maybe it didn’t happen, right? You don’t even need a Big Brother in Germany. Everybody does this voluntarily.

German Of The Day: Abschiebung

That means deportation. And those who have no business being here in Germany must understand that the Germans might actually deport them. One day. Eventually.

Smugglers

Of course those who do get deported only come right back to Germany again with the help of Schlepper (human trafficking smugglers). But still.

Take this head of a Lebanese criminal family clan, for instance. Please. German authorities finally got tough with him and deported him to Lebanon but he just turned around and came right back with the help of today’s highly efficient, extremely lucrative and internationally active human trafficking industry (thanks be to you, Angela Merkel & Co.). He made a mistake filling out his asylum seeker form in Bremen though and the cops were able to bust him again. I think for behavior like that they really ought to come down hard on this guy and deport him.
