Unable to even meet their NATO commitments now, the Germans feel the time has come to play an even greater role militarily.

Defense minister Christine Lambrecht said Germans had got used to seeing the nation’s military as just a kind of disaster relief agency, but “those times are over.”

Now the disaster will become more proactive or something? It’s always a joy to watch. Germans pretending that Germans would ever use their military to defend themselves, much less anyone else. The Bundeswehr‘s sole purpose is to be the alibi army; the excuse for Germany’s monsterous and highly profitable weapons industry. No one here takes this woman’s comments seriously.

German economy minister under fire as German companies sound alarm on energy prices – German Economy Minister Robert Habeck faced a backlash on Wednesday for saying he could imagine parts of the economy stopping production due to rising energy prices that German firms say are threatening their existence.

Asked whether he expected a wave of insolvencies at the end of this winter due to companies’ rising energy bills, Habeck said “No, I don’t. I can imagine that certain industries will simply stop producing for the time being.”

Germany establishes new military space command – The German military has announced the creation of a separate command dedicated to space, becoming the latest of a handful of nations prioritizing more resources and missions among the stars.

“The military is responding to the increasing significance of space for our state’s ability to function, the prosperity of our population, and the increasing dependency of the armed forces on space-supported data, SERVICES and PRODUCTS.”

Next Thursday, July 1, was supposed to be a day of celebration for Tesla: the opening of its self-styled “gigafactory” in the tranquil German municipality of Gruenheide, just outside Berlin.

But thanks to fierce environmental resistance, red tape and planning tweaks it is completely unclear when the first vehicles will roll off the production line of the electric carmaker’s first European factory.

Tesla has already pushed back the expected opening to late 2021. Yet the environmental agency in Brandenburg, the state where the 5.8 billion euro ($6.9 billion) plant is being built, has still not given final approval – meaning a further delay cannot be ruled out, even into 2022.

German business lobby group defends its mocking of Greens leader – A German business lobby group on Tuesday defended a controversial campaign in which it portrays Greens chancellor candidate Annalena Baerbock dressed as a biblical Moses, holding two tablets under the caption “Annalena and the 10 bans.”

In its campaign, lobby group INSM attacks the Greens’ policies to steer Germans into electric cars and onto trains instead of domestic flights. But its portrayal of Baerbock as Moses has met criticism and accusations of anti-Semitism.

Just like racism, anti-Semitism, CO2, shark attacks and so much more, “social inequality” is on the rise in Germany.

Social inequality in Germany is on the rise – Germany’s poor are getting poorer, and the rich richer. A new government report has made clear how wide the country’s social divide is growing.

The odd thing about this is I can’t think of a time when social inequality and all the others weren’t on the rise. It’s all so very alarming. It sure is reassuring to know that this rise isn’t a classic journalistic device used to inflame and generate alarm to bring in higher ratings and increase advertising revenue for greater profit. Otherwise it would be hard to take headlines like these seriously.
