Corona Deaths In Germany Completely Out Of Control

I mean the numbers.

Corona

What’s a panic monger to do? How can a media mind manipulator control the numbers when the numbers at your disposal are only 1 or 2 or 0? All you can do is not report this unfortunate fact and emphasise the number of infections instead – infections that stubbornly refuse to lead to death, but still.

Immer weniger Corona-Tote in Deutschland – Fewer and fewer Corona deaths in Germany.

Trump Derangement Syndrome Vs. Coronavirus Anxiety Syndrome

Which syndrome has Germans more disturbed?

Trump

Like, duh. TDS wins hands down.

Germans fear Donald Trump more than coronavirus – Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Trump tops the list of things Germans fear the most, a new survey found.

Trump ranks number one this year on Germans’ list of fears at 53%. The US president has topped the R+V fear scale as early as 2018.

Warning: Nationwide Warning System Doesn’t Work

No sirens sounded all throughout Germany yesterday as the country conducted its first nationwide emergency warning system test since 1990.

Warning

Nor did the apps that were supposed to send alerts to people’s phones during the test function.

An anonymous spokesman for the German government was satisfied with the reuslts, however. “Let this be a warning to us all,” he said.

One Twitter user added: “Anyone who didn’t hear any sirens will receive a warning signal by fax or mail in the next 14 days.”

But If We Stop Nord Steam 2…

We’ll be agreeing with Donald Trump!

Nord

Nord Stream 2: Why Germany may pull plug on Russian pipeline – For the first time since building began almost a decade ago, the future of the pipeline looks threatened.

Ironically, one reason that many Germans support the pipeline is because its greatest critic is US President Donald Trump. He is disliked in Germany and his rants against the pipeline only serve to boost its popularity.

Many voters suspect he wants it scrapped in order to sell American fuel to Germany instead. Mrs Merkel has to avoid the impression that she is giving in to pressure from Mr Trump.

More Debt Is The New Normal

In Germany too.

Schulden

The govenment might not directly admit it but the days when they at least strove to reach a balanced budget (black zero) are over.

Germany’s spending to counter the coronavirus crisis and modernize its economy means the country shouldn’t return to a balanced budget anytime soon, according to a senior Finance Ministry official…

Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government abandoned its balanced-budget policy this year and is set to borrow about 218 billion euros ($258 billion). A deficit of more than 80 billion euros is set for next year to fight the fallout from the pandemic, people familiar with the matter have said…

Germany’s constitutional debt brake obliges the government to keep debt under control. In good times, the rule allows for a structural deficit of 0.35% of gross domestic product. In times of recession, new borrowing can go up in proportion with the economic decline.

“A balanced budget isn’t obligatory.”

And Gazprom Gerd‘s silence is poisoning the atmosphere in Germany. Poisoning, get it?

Gerd

German politicians warn ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schröder to quit Russian posts – CDU and Green politicians have urged Gerhard Schröder to “immediately give up his offices and posts in Russia” over allegations of Russian involvement in the poisoning of Alexei Navalny.

“He should not ignore this, neither politically nor morally.”

Everybody’s Got A COVID-19 Plan

Until they get punched in the face.

Train

Germany: Train passenger without face mask punches attendant – A man on a Hamburg train got violent after a train attendant asked him to wear a face mask and display his ticket. Deutsche Bahn has recently tried to crack down on mask violations.

Save The Trees – And The German Automobile Industry!

Too late for the later, I think.

Trees

Germany Promises Elon Musk Whatever He Needs For Tesla Berlin Plant – The factory, under construction, would be Tesla’s first European car plant, and could employ an estimated 12,000 people, making as many as 500,000 cars a year. The factory is slated to start production in summer 2021, an aggressive timetable for a car plant…

Locals have complained that trees were cut down for the factory and that it’s being built in a region with scarce water resources, but construction has progressed relatively smoothly so far.

“We are very proud of your car plant in Brandenburg and we wish you good luck with that. You’ll have every assistance you need.”

What Can We Ban Today?

It’s been twenty-four hours at least. Our fingers are getting itchy.

Motorcycles

I know, riding your motorcycle on Sundays!

Noise in Germany keeps a strict schedule. Every night after 10 p.m. and on Sundays, Germans are required by a medley of federal, state and local laws to keep schtum. That means no spin cycles, no vacuuming, no power tools and no mowing the lawn.

As the world went into lockdown this spring, a drop in noise levels was recorded across the globe. But in most of Germany, it wasn’t much quieter than an average Sunday, when socializing is done sotto voce and the peal of church bells is about as loud as it gets.

“Many villagers have stopped using their gardens on sunny weekends.”

Of All The Words Of Mice And Men

And German chancellors, the saddest are “We can do this!”

Merkel

Just kidding. They’re actually “What the hell were you thinking?”

And if you believe those numbers up there (another state-run agency), you can’t be helped either.

“We can do this!” — Merkel’s famous words five years on – It’s five years to the day since German Chancellor Angela Merkel uttered her famous quote about taking in refugees. Today the numbers show that integration has made progress, though skepticism persists.
