Mess With Nord Stream At Your Own Risk

If you mess with Nord Stream, you mess with Heiko.

Heiko

And that would spell trouble for US-Amerika. Big trouble. Or at the very least, displeasure.

Germany expresses ‘displeasure’ at US threat over Russia pipeline – German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has expressed “displeasure” to his US counterpart Mike Pompeo about Washington’s threat of sanctions against a German port over a gas pipeline from Russia.

“I mentioned it in a telephone call with (Secretary of State) Mike Pompeo yesterday and expressed my surprise and displeasure.”

If Foxes Aren’t Stealing Your Shoes…

I was still digesting the shoe fetishist fox. Now wild boars are ripping off people’s laptops.

Schweine

While they’re nude bathing. Even during the corona hysteria era the Sommerloch must go on (journalists need a vacation now and then too).

A nudist bather who chased a wild boar near a Berlin lake after it stole his laptop was applauded by onlookers after a successful pursuit.

“Would Establish A Relentless Critic?”

Who could ask for more?

Macgregor

Advocacy groups come out against Trump pick for ambassador to Germany.

If Macgregor is confirmed, it “would establish as America’s representative, in what many regard as the most important capital in Europe, a relentless critic, presumably handicapped from the start as an effective envoy.”

CNN first unsurfaced comments earlier this week, including remarks that criticized Germany for giving “millions of unwanted Muslim invaders” welfare benefits and said Germany’s efforts to grapple with its role in the Holocaust was a “sick mentality.”

Trumps Wunsch-Botschafter stänkerte gegen Deutschland.

German Of The Day: Steuerhinterzieherin

That means tax evader – of the female persuasion.

Taxes

The title of the article: The Super-Lefty as Tax Evader.

Katrin Lompscher (Left Party), the Senator for City Development in Berlin’s red-redder-green (SPD, Left Party, Greens) city government – and the mother of the city’s infamous, breathtakingly failed and unconstitutional Mietendeckel or rent cap – has been forced to resign due to tax irregularities. They weren’t paid regularly enough, in other words – she earned too much on the side and declared too little. It’s folks like her – and there are a whole lot of them here in this city – who put the Social in Social Democracy. Sorry. I meant, who put the Left in the Left.

Zu viel Kohle nebenher kassiert und nicht versteuert – das klingt nach turbokapitalem Protzvillen-Raffke.

Schools Reopen In Germany

“But the coronavirus is not gone.”

Schools

Politicians are agreed on the need to avoid large-scale closures. But the coronavirus is not gone.

Schools are considered lower-risk and many doctors favor a return to the normal schoolday. But the coronavirus is not gone.

In May and June, 2,600 students and teachers were tested as part of a pilot project and not a single acute infection was found. But the coronavirus is not gone.

Fewer than 20 of those tested had antibodies in their blood, which usually indicates an infection in the past. But the coronavirus is not gone.

Experts say a new lockdown would have negative psychological and physical repercussions for young people. But the coronavirus is not gone.

The German teacher’s union doesn’t want the schools to open, however. Because the coronavirus is not gone.

If You’re Against Covid-19 Restrictions In Germany…

You’re a neo-Nazi.

Protest

That’s pretty straightforward. It is also deceptive, unbalanced and an incorrect. Some would even go as far as to say it is fake news. But then they would be called neo-Nazis too.

Neben Corona-Leugnern und Impfgegnern waren auch viele Teilnehmer mit eindeutig rechtsgerichteten Fahnen oder T-Shirts in der Menge. – Along with Corona deniers and anti-vaxxers many participants in the crowd were waving what were clearly right-leaning flags or wearing related t-shirts.

Politik diskutiert über Einschränkung der Versammlungsfreiheit – Politicians are discussing the restriction on freedom of assembly.

German Of The Day: Abziehen

That means to withdraw.

Germany

US to withdraw 12,000 troops from Germany in ‘strategic’ move – The US is set to withdraw almost 12,000 troops from Germany in what it described as a “strategic” repositioning of its forces in Europe.

About 6,400 troops will be sent home, with the rest moved to other Nato countries such as Italy and Belgium.

President Donald Trump said the move was a response to Germany failing to meet Nato targets on defence spending.

So schnell wie möglich.

Germany Tired Of Being Admired

“China and Russia vying for second” pretty much sums this “global” poll up, people.

Germany

With runners-up like that who needs first place?

Germany by far most admired country, with US, China and Russia vying for second – global poll – Annual Gallup survey casts doubt on Mike Pompeo’s claim that the US is ‘perfectly positioned’ to lead the free world in rivalry with China

I’ve been with 1000’s of men
Again and again
They sing the same tune
They start with Byron and Shelley
And jump on your belly
And bust your ballon

Aye!
Tired, tired of playing the game
Ain’t it a freakin’ shame
I’m so…
Let’s face it everything below the waist is kaput!

That’s Not What Angie Led The Germans To Believe

Angela Merkel’s European border opening festival of love back in 2015 was just a temporary, humanitarian, emergency-type measure, Germans were told. All of those Syrian refugee doctors, lawyers, engineers etc. streaming into Germany (the minority of the refugees who came to Germany actually came from Syria, by the way) would be going back to Syria just as soon as they were able.

Well, who would have expected this? It turned out differently than she said. It’s almost as if she wasn’t telling the truth or something.

Syrians

A large portion of the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees who arrived in Germany in 2015 are planning to stay in the country for good.

Syrians now represent the largest Muslim minority in Germany after Turks. Since 2010, their numbers in the country have risen from around 30,000 to almost 800,000. Most arrived as refugees after the outbreak of the civil war, and they are reshaping the country, much like Turkish migrants did for decades.

Between 2015 and 2018, Syrian women in Germany gave birth to over 65,000 babies. But the Syrian community will continue to grow in the country for other reasons as well. In the past year, around 40,000 Syrians applied for asylum, a small number compared to 2015, when the large wave of refugees came to Germany.

“We Muslims are a part of this society. It is becoming more and more normal. But for that, we have to become more visible.”

Not To Worry

No story here. And certainly no “battleground.” When it comes to the Huawei 5G “issue,” Germany will do whatever China wants it to do.

China

Standing up and saying no to China’s communist leaders would only hurt their feelings – and German business prospects.

After Britain, Germany Emerges as Next 5G Battleground – Following Britain’s decision to ban Chinese tech firm Huawei from its 5G telecom network, Germany is emerging as the next potential battleground to check China’s expansion of influence in world affairs, which is increasingly seen as a serious challenge to democratic institutions worldwide.

“Does the chancellor really want to be the stumbling block preventing a united EU + transatlantic + 5Eyes stance?”
